love and magic have a great deal in common. they enrich the soul, delight the heart, and they both take practice.
• Avriella "Avy" Sterling, 22 years old, muggle-born and very unashamed of it. Recruited by the Fitchburg Finches right after graduation and payed her dues as a reserve for two years before being named Seeker. She has an excellent relationship with her parents and they could not be more proud of her...they can even come to her games and talk Quidditch with the best of them.
• There was a bit of buzz when a young, muggle-born female replaced the seasoned, pure-blooded male as Fitchburg Seeker, but it was silenced when she clearly out-performed him. Avy is the second girl to play Seeker for the Finches, and the youngest female Seeker in Quidditch history.
• Her wand is a 10 ¼ inch Rosewood with a Unicorn tail hair (female) core. Her maker deemed it "graceful" and Avy is extremely attached to it. It took her exactly two hours to find the right wand, and the ministry officials who accompanied her later confessed that they were worried they'd brought the wrong muggle child.
• Always very gifted in Transfiguration (though she's almost killed herself several times in Herbology and Potions classes) Avriella is currently in training to become an Animagus. She takes the form of an Ocelot which is also the shape of her Patronus. Her practice has severely alarmed her pet rabbit Chauncey.
• Some of the snottier pure-bloods refuse to believe that someone with Avriella's talent on the Quidditch field could be muggle-born. Many like to perpetuate the rumor that her mother had an affair with a half-Veela wizard and Avy's favorite variant of the story involves her mom's scandalous night with a centaur.
• Avy is a very charming, quick-witted girl with obvious athletic prowess, a ready sense of humor and a love for all things fun. Despite her impetuous and spontaneous nature, Avriella is usually quite mindful of others and equally compassionate towards magical creatures. She does have a tendency to get butthurt when discussing certain issues (and the girl is well-versed in the art of holding a grudge) but she's generally a sweetheart when you're both on the same page.
• Even before she knew she was a witch, Avy grew up with ![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) johnthn (her gay boyfriend), nigel (her favorite muggle for whom she has an enormous soft spot for), arkie (her little troublemaker), and alexandre (her confidante through thick and thin) and still calls them her best friends. The Finches have also become a second family to her: cssdy (the big sister she never had), conwell (friends turned flings turned even better friends), marcelloross (the adorable, awkward reserve). Other friends include reaganlaw, wyborn and vasco.
